So I broke the website (again). I installed a starter template over the default Spectra One Launch my website landing page. The problem I created when switching the template was that I didn’t uncheck a box that deleted my old Spectra One setup. So I lost all my page links. I also think I broke Spectra One as now I can’t get the navigation on the header working. Not a big deal but frustrating nonetheless as I wasn’t expecting the lack of a rollback. Luckily this is all just cosmetic stuff. So I decided to press on with actual theme changes.
Following the instructions from the Spectra team again, I completely changed theme to another Spectra compatible theme – WordPress’s Twenty Twenty-Four to see if I could get the Post Carousel working with images. Still no luck. I’ve followed all the documentation but just can’t seem to get this function fully operational. On this theme, I can’t even get the images up let alone all linked. Also, I’ve noticed it isn’t a true WYSIWYG theme. My heading and title are aligned center on the editing page but come out aligned left on the site. Didn’t notice this issue on Spectra One. Also, the default Spectra One theme also seems more optimized for the mobile both in performance (Jetpack’s rating) as well as appearance (less elements out of place). Pity it’s broken right now. I tried deleting and reinstalling but I think elements from Astra are still present. Will try to clean it up through FTP when I get time.
I’m still waiting to hear back from the Spectra team regarding this. In the meantime I’m waiting for Divi 5 to come out. In simple terms Divi is another WordPress theme. But it’s actually a bit more than that. It’s a full website building platform and complete design framework for websites. Divi 5 is a completely new framework that gets rid of shortcodes and other legacy items. I can’t wait for it to come out. More stuff to learn.
